Why use this tool

Runs entirely in the front end. No sign up, and your photo is never collected.

🔒

Your photo never leaves your computer

Cropping, zooming and layout all happen in your browser using the Canvas API. Your photo is never uploaded to any server, which matters for sensitive identity documents.

A4 layout ready to print

Photos are tiled onto an A4 sheet with cutting guides, up to twenty per sheet, ready for a print shop or a home printer. The exported file carries correct DPI data so the size is accurate.

🧭

Face guide for alignment

The crop frame shows a head oval and an eye line so you can position the portrait correctly, matching the common requirement that the head fills about two thirds of the height.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tool free?

Yes, it is completely free and needs no sign up. All processing happens in your browser and our server only delivers the static page.

Can I take the downloaded file to a print shop?

Yes. The A4 layout PNG is exported at 300 or 600 DPI with the correct DPI data embedded, so a print shop can print it at the original size. If you print it yourself, always choose Actual size or 100%, never Fit to page.

How many photos fit on one A4 sheet?

It depends on the size. A 40 x 50 mm passport photo fits twenty per A4 sheet, while a 33 x 48 mm Home Return Permit fits twenty five. The tool calculates the maximum automatically.

Why is there a gap between the photos?

A small white gap makes it easier to cut along the lines without trimming into the neighbouring photo. Choose 0 mm if you want the maximum number per sheet.

Is my uploaded photo stored?

No. The whole process runs in your browser and the data disappears when you close the page. You can verify this in your browser developer tools under the Network panel: no request is made during processing.

Are there requirements for the background or lighting?

Requirements vary between issuing authorities, but ID photos generally need a plain background, a front facing pose, a natural expression and no tinted glasses or hats. This tool handles cropping and layout; the photo itself still needs to meet the authority requirements.

Need ID photos handled for a whole team?

Onboarding, school applications, membership registrations. We can build an automated pipeline that crops, lays out, renames and files large batches of ID photos at once.
